Why have Wistron Corp. shares rallied 10% today?

Wistron Corp., Taiwan-based original design manufacturer that manufactures electronics for major global brands, is in the spotlight after the company announced that it has officially opened its first facility in the US on Wednesday to manufacture AI servers for chip giant Nvidia.
The opening of a US facility would help Wistron significantly expand its AI infrastructure production, helping it to cash in on the rising demand for advanced AI hardware.
Investors were quick enough to realise this, sending shares of Wistron Corp 9.7% higher on the Taiwan Stock Exchange on Wednesday.
Wistron’s new D1 AI smart manufacturing facility is located in Fort Worth, Texas. The company acquired the plant in April 2025 and is beginning mass production in July 2026. Built with an investment of $700 million, it spans approximately 30,100 square meters.
The new facility will be the first to mass produce Nvidia’s GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip in the US. Wistron plans to use the facility later to manufacture Nvidia’s Vera Rubin Superchip as well.
The facility is also important for Wistron as it expands the company’s AI server manufacturing beyond Taiwan. It is designed to assemble and test Nvidia AI systems for customers in the US, helping shorten delivery times and strengthen domestic supply chain resilience.
Highlighting the relevance of the new facility, Wistron chairman Simon Lin also said that the next stage of the AI industry will not be built from a single production base, but through a global presence.
Lin said that the new plant was only the beginning. “Wistron is already planning a second facility, D2, which is expected to be twice the size of D1,” Lin added.
Strong outlook
Earlier this month, Wistron had reported record second-quarter revenue of $27.83 billion, up 62.4% from a year earlier, driven by strong AI server shipments. First-half revenue had surged 94.1% year-on-year.
Wistron had mentioned at the time of announcing its earnings that the AI server revenue was expected to grow sequentially this quarter and throughout the rest of the year.
AI servers accounted for about 70% of Wistron’s revenue in the first two months of this year, the company had said in March.
