Apple CEO John Ternus Teases “Huge Launch” In The Works: What It Means

Huge Launch. New CEO

John Ternus has succeeded Tim Cook this month as Apple’s new CEO. Ternus, the former senior vice president of Hardware Engineering at Apple, became its CEO just days before the tech giant’s annual iPhone event on September 9.

Now, Ternus has teased a “huge launch” in his first memo as the CEO.

“We have a huge launch next week that’s going to be phenomenal,” Ternus wrote on Tuesday, as per Bloomberg.

“I’m just as excited about what lies beyond that, including the incredible products already in the works and the ones we haven’t even imagined yet that we’ll dream up and create together,” he claimed.

Apple’s Potential New Products

The tech giant is working on several projects, including smart glasses, camera-equipped AirPods, and a touchscreen laptop, TechCrunch reported. There is speculation that Apple may launch its first foldable iPhone this year.

Ternus will be aiming to start his tenure at Apple with a few big hits. As of now, he has not hinted at what other products will be launched at the iPhone event.

Ternus Faces Challenges At Apple

Ternus will have to juggle massive responsibilities while also trying to figure out how Apple’s business strategy will be impacted by the artificial intelligence boom. Apple has faced criticism in the past for not being quick on AI adoption compared to its Big Tech peers.

Apple is also expected to initiate a broad rollout of its new and improved Siri AI. It had announced the version in 2024 but delayed the release repeatedly due to technical and behind-the-scenes issues, as per Yahoo! Finance.

The launch would be an opportunity for the company to position Siri as an equal to chatbots like Anthropic’s Claude or OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

If the new Siri exceeds expectations, it would prove that Apple is making headway on AI.

Apple is also facing a shortage of memory chips due to the AI boon. The $4.7 trillion company has raised prices for products such as MacBooks and iPads due to the chip crunch.

While the hike hasn’t hit iPhones yet, there are chances that such an announcement is possible early on in Ternus’ tenure, as per CNBC. Analysts also predict that the foldable iPhone can cost as much as $2,500.

While Apple’s stock is up 17% so far in 2026, there are concerns that the rising product costs may eventually lead to sluggish sales that will also impact the company’s services division.

For now, Ternus is betting big on product launches to kickstart his term with a bang.
